Today I really felt the accumulated sleep loss...but still
pushed on.
It was myself, Alex and Pierre working today while Alexandre got
everything ready for his presentation. We did quite a bit or bread and just
pumped it all out. I made a type of bread called fougasse which is a
ciabatta dough shaped into a triangle and then rolled out and cut to look like
a leaf. We made a nature, olive noir et
tomate seche flavour.
After work we cleaned down and one thing that’s really cool
here is that they don’t use mops, but use squeegees which are called
“raclettes” or they have a vacuum machine for water “la spirateur” which works
really well but is just slow because you can’t rush when sucking up the water
or it won’t do the job properly.
Again after work I had some rillettes and fromage a tartiner
on a baguette with a beer and then passed out again until about 8pm and then
woke up and got ready to meet up with some Erasmus students for another
meeting/party at a pub in hotel de ville.
There were so many people at this party that it eventually
became so humid and hot. It was quite weird because all the barmen were British
and spoke French with an English accent. I met loads of people though, from
Cameroon, Gabon, Zambia, Canada, Brazil and Germany. The guy from Zambia
actually spent some time in Nelspruit which was quite random but then I ended
up speaking to a girl from Germany who lived in Durban for 10 years and we had
a fat conversation about SA and planned to do something for braai day which is
on Tuesday...
These Erasmus
meetings are really a great way to meet people and spend time...and some people
speak worse French than me so I don’t feel bad at all: P
